Knowing you have a purpose that is beautiful and will make an impact and knowing what your purpose is are two different things.

Sometimes it can feel like you’re lost – spiralling, spinning your wheels and getting nowhere. You work so hard to manifest your dreams but you never quite seem to get there.

You feel overwhelmed, confused and completely uncertain if you’re even on the right path or not sure what path you’re even on.

But you just know deep down (or maybe not so deep) that you have a bigger purpose and when you finally figure out what it is you’re going to be unstoppable, a game changer… But… you just can’t seem to figure out what it is or even get into alignment to trust that you’re on the right path.

So, how can you start to figure out what your life purpose is so you can finally manifest and live the life of your dreams?

1. Reflect on your passions and values

Start by taking inventory. What do you already know about yourself? This is an important step. Your passion isn’t your purpose but really getting to know yourself; what makes you tick, what you value, what you love, what lights a fire in your soul, etc. is a great place to start.

Take stock in whichever way works for you. Write them out on a piece of paper, create a note in your phone, leave yourself voice memos, however, you feel you can best get everything out.

Just do a big brain dump. Nothing is too big or too small and don’t allow yourself to get embarrassed by something. No one needs to see this.

You can get into a meditative state, even do some hypnosis work to really get deep into your subconscious and stop letting your conscious brain leave something out because society tells you it’s wrong. Embrace yourself, every part!

2. Identify your strengths and skills

Some things we are naturally good at and other things are strengths and skills because we have worked hard to obtain and master them. Either way, it’s a good idea to know what you’re already good at and what you can do.

Think about what people compliment you on and what they come to you for advice or help with. Also, use your passions and values list to support this. Things that light you up and that you love typically come easier to you because you enjoy doing them.

Your purpose will always be something that you’re good at (either naturally or acquired). It won’t be something that you dislike or that you have no desire to learn or become proficient in. The universe is here to support you, not to force you to engage in something you aren’t interested in doing.

Don’t be humble here. Make a list of all of your strengths and skills, small or big. Even if they have nothing to do with your work or being monetized. It’s not always about making money.

3. Explore your endless possibilities

Once you have spent some time getting to know yourself you can begin to explore opportunities around you. Look at ways you can do things that you’re passionate about and that you’re good at even if it’s new.

It’s okay to want to learn a new skill because it sparks something in you such as photography. Let’s say you start learning photography but after a while, you realize that you don’t want to be a photographer but you really love capturing a beautiful scene. You start capturing the moment through video, then you buy a drone and fall so in love with it you decide to pursue being a drone videographer.

I started doing copywriting thinking I loved writing (which I do!) but along the way, I started to realize that I loved editing even more than writing. So, I started to invest my time in learning to edit and just finished editing my first book. It felt amazing!

Start doing things and getting involved and slowly you’ll get closer and closer to your true purpose. And your purpose isn’t about a job it’s about how something makes you feel and the impact that you make because of that feeling.

You’ll know you’re heading in the right direction based on how you feel in your body and eventually you’ll find you get obsessed with the impact that you make in the lives of others.

Happy purpose finding!

XO,
Sarah
